Potassium fluoroborate Applications

With the development of science and technology, the role of potassium fluoroborate in industrial production is becoming increasingly prominent. Potassium fluoroborate has a wide range of uses, including as a flux for hot welding and copper welding, raw materials for boron-containing alloys, abrasives for thermosetting resin grinding wheels, and in the purification of metal dross during welding and fusion of certain metals. It can also be used as a raw material for the production of potassium fluoroborate and other fluoroborate salts, as well as in electrochemical processes and reagents.

The market application of potassium fluoroborate is expanding, and to meet market demand, reduce production costs, enhance product quality, and strengthen market competitiveness, research into high-quality potassium fluoroborate that can gain market advantages is urgently needed. Therefore, studying the differences in potassium fluoroborate production yield and quality under different conditions is of great significance.

Organic potassium fluoroborate is a tetrahedral organoboron compound, mostly white powder-like solid substances, with good stability to air and moisture, easy to prepare and purify, and has high reactivity and affinity. It is widely used as an important boron nucleophilic reagent, particularly in Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions, and has important applications in the synthesis of pharmaceutical active intermediates and functional materials.

Additionally, potassium fluoroborate is mainly used as a flux for hot welding and copper welding, raw materials for aluminum-magnesium casting to produce boron-containing alloys, abrasives for thermosetting resin grinding wheels, and in the purification of light metal dross during welding and fusion of silver, gold, stainless steel, and other metals. It can be used as a raw material for the production of BF3 and other fluoroborate salts, as well as in electrochemical processes and reagents.

Potassium fluoroborate is mainly mixed with potassium fluotitanate at a titanium-to-boron mass ratio of 5:1 or 3:1, with a market demand of 20,000 to 50,000 tons per annum. The latest research also shows that lubricating oil containing potassium fluoroborate has super lubrication, anti-friction, and anti-wear functions, further expanding the market application of potassium fluoroborate.

By summarizing and analyzing the research and industrialization of potassium fluoroborate production processes in combination with market demand, national policies and regulations, and industry development characteristics, it will be possible to further reduce the production cost of potassium fluoroborate, enhance product quality, and strengthen market competitiveness.
