Name: N-Iodosuccinimide
CAS Number:516-12-1
Molecular formula: C4H4INO2
Molecular weight: 224.98
Properties: N-Iodosuccinimide, commonly abbreviated as NIS, is a white needle-like crystalline. Melting point of 200-201°C and is soluble in acetone and methanol, slightly soluble in diethyl ether, and virtually insoluble in carbon tetrachloride and ethyl ether. It undergoes decomposition upon contact with water. In the laboratory, it can be prepared by the reaction of silver salt of succinimide with elemental iodine.
