Applications
1. Lithium aluminum hydride can be used as a carbonyl reagent and reducing agent in the production of other hydrides, silanes, boranes, etc. It is also a reducing agent in pharmaceuticals, fragrances, pesticides, dyes, and other fine organic syntheses.
Lithium aluminum hydride can reduce aldehydes, ketones, acids, acid anhydrides, esters, quinones, acyl chlorides, etc., to alcohols; nitriles to primary amines; halogenated hydrocarbons to hydrocarbons; aromatic nitro compounds to azo compounds. However, it typically does not hydrogenate carbon-carbon double bonds.
2.Lithium aluminum hydride is a commonly used reducing agent in organic chemistry, capable of reducing various functional group compounds. Additionally, it can react with double and triple bonds to achieve hydride addition reactions. Lithium aluminum hydride can also act as a base in reactions.
3.Used as polymerization catalyst, reducing agent, jet fuel, and in the synthesis of drugs.
