Physical and chemical properties
White or off-white powder, relative density 2.846, melting point 1084°C, almost insoluble in water, insoluble in dilute hydrochloric acid, ethanol, acetone, soluble in ammonia and ether, easily soluble in concentrated alkali metal thiocyanate solution In , it can form a combination, which will decompose when dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid. It can ignite and burn when heated to above 140℃ in air. Dry copper thiocyanate can absorb ammonia when cold to form an adduct of ammoniacal copper thiocyanate (2 CuSCN·5NH3), which releases ammonia when heated.
Usage
CuSCN is an efficient marine algae antifouling agent. It is mainly used as an antifouling paint on the bottom of marine ships. It is used in conjunction with zinc pyrithione, copper pyrithione, cuprous oxide, etc. to obtain comprehensive protection against marine algae and molluscs. dirt effect.
As an antibacterial agent in the production of plastic masterbatch.
Copper (I) thiocyanate can be used in the manufacture of industrial chemicals, pharmaceuticals and pesticides, as well as in freezing, electroplating, steel flotation, and printing.
