Properties: Soluble in water, the dilute solution is purple, soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone, almost insoluble in ether.

Stability: Deliquescent, non-flammable, irritating, sensitizing. Decomposed by high heat, releasing toxic fumes.

Main application: Used for making chromium salt, chrome plating and as mordant, etc. Used as a mordant in the printing and dyeing industry; used in chrome plating in the electroplating industry; used in the production of other chromium salts in the chemical industry; used in the manufacture of various chromium-containing pigments in the pigment industry; used in the manufacture of chromium catalysts in organic synthesis, and can also be used as decomposition reagents.
