Chloroplatinic Acid Production

Heat platinum on a water bath in a ventilated place, and dissolve it in a mixture of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid at a ratio of 3:1 (the relative densities of hydrochloric acid and nitric acid are 1.19 and 1.4, respectively). Heat and evaporate, and add water and hydrochloric acid continuously until it becomes a slurry solution.
After waiting for cooling, add ethanol with half its volume, and then add saturated ammonium chloride solution until no yellow ammonium chloroplatinate precipitates. Filter out the precipitate, wash with 30% ammonium chloride solution, filter, dry at 100-110°C, and burn at 800°C to obtain pure spongy platinum. Dissolve the obtained pure platinum in the mixed solution of hydrochloric acid and concentrated nitric acid, filter and evaporate the filtrate until a small amount of solution is taken out and cooled, and crystals are precipitated (when the evaporation reaches the end point, chlorine gas must be passed until the solution is saturated). Cooling to room temperature with constant stirring resulted in crystallization of chloroplatinic acid.
