Ammonium Thiocyanate description
Physical and chemical properties:
NH4SCN,a colorless crystalline or column crystal that is soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, pyridine, acetone & ammonia and insoluble in ethyl acetate, methyl chloride and chloroform; at 140℃ bring thiourea. melts at 149.6℃ .thermal decomposition at 170℃ may produce highly toxic fumes of hydrogen cyanide, hydrogen sulfide and toxic oxides of nitrogen, sulfur, and carbon.
Usage:
- Inorganic industry is used to make cyanide, thiocyanate, ferrocyanide, thiourea and as an auxiliary material to produce hydrogen peroxide.
- The organic industry is used as a catalyst for polymerization.
- Synthesis and separation proces used in antibiotic production in pharmaceutical industry.
- Electroplating industry is used for zinc plating and flotation agent.
- Printing and dyeing industry is used as printing and dyeing diffusion agent. Printing, dyeing and finishing operations accelerator in fixing baths.
- The pesticide industry is raw material for the production of a number of herbicides and fungicides.
- Iron and steel industry is used to prepare pickling agent.
- In analytical chemistry, the determination of silver, mercury and trace iron, the analysis of nitrogen content in pesticides, the analysis of water quality and the standard solution of thiocyanate were used.
