Descriptions
Properties: Yellow monoclinic crystals. Relative density is 1.91. It begins to decompose when heated to 180°C. It is soluble in cold water, slightly soluble in ammonia and acetone, and insoluble in alcohol. Long-term storage can decompose and release ammonia, partially converting it to ammonium dichromate.
Precautions: Toxic.
Uses: It is primarily used as a mordant, sensitizer in photographic coatings, catalyst, corrosion inhibitor, analytical reagent, and oxidizing agent.
