Uses
- Amino and methoxy groups are used to couple organic polymers and inorganic fillers, enhancing their adhesion and improving the products’ mechanical, electrical, water resistance, and aging properties.
- It can be used as an additive or formulated into priming solutions for phenolic, urea-formaldehyde, furan, polyurethane, silicone, epoxy, nitrile, phenolic, acrylic coatings, inks, adhesives, and sealants. This enhances the adhesion, corrosion, weather, water, and scrub resistance of resin coatings, prolonging their service life. It also improves the dispersibility and compatibility of pigments and fillers in the resin phase.
- Used in resin sand casting and resin abrasives, it enhances the bonding strength and water resistance of the resin with silica sand or abrasives, improves the adhesion of resin-bonded silica sand, and increases the strength and moisture resistance of molding sand. It is also used in glass fiber-reinforced phenolic resin and epoxy thermosetting composite materials as a surface treatment agent for glass fibers and a resin additive.
- Treating the surface of inorganic mineral fillers, flame retardants, and glass fibers improves their dispersibility, compatibility, adhesion, and reinforcing effect in the resin phase.
- 3-Aminopropyltrimethoxysilane can also be used to synthesize amino silicon oil and its emulsion.
